India registers steep single-day spike in COVID-19 cases

New Delhi/INS: India witnessed another highest spike in the number of COVID-19 infection cases in the past 24 hours as the death toll due to the disease also neared 5000-mark on Saturday, as per Ministry of Health released data.

India registered 7964 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours while 265 deaths during the same period.

The data includes 86422 active cases.

At present, the deat toll due to the highly infectious disease stands at 4971.

So far, 82369 people have cured in the country from COVID-19.
