India reports 1.72 lakh COVID-19 cases in 24 hours

New Delhi/IBNS: Over 1.72 lakh COVID-19 cases and 1,008 deaths apparently due to the virus were reported from across the vast country of 1.3 billion people in the last 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry said on Thursday morning.

However, the single-day toll includes the backlog of 355 deaths reported in Kerala.

In the same span of time, 2,59,107 COVID-19 patients have been discharged from various medical facilities taking the discharge percentage to 95.14%.

The active cases now account for 3.67% of the total cases reported so far in the country.

Under the national vaccination drive, 167.87 anti-COVID-19 vaccine doses were administered in the country.
