Palghar/UNI: A newborn, having medical complications, died on Sunday of COVID-19 while undergoing treatment at the Nashik civil hospital, informed authorities.

According to doctors, the premature child was born with low birth weight six days back in the Saphale town here.

The mother tested COVID negative while the child was found to be positive, after which he was treated at the Jawhar government hospital, they added.

As the baby’s condition worsened, he was shifted to the Nashik civil hospital where he passed away this morning.

This was perhaps the first case of newborn succumbing to the pandemic in the Mumbai Metropolitam Region(MMR), apprised doctors.
