Rain relief for Delhi, mercury down by few notches

New Delhi, Jun 16 (UNI): Delhiites on Sunday got respite from the extremely hot weather that had been continuing for the past several days with traces of rain in the morning and a partly cloudy sky during the day as maximum temperature here settled at 36.3 degrees Celsius, three points below season's average.

Thunderstorm with rain is likely towards the night that may bring down mercury by few more notches, said the Met office.

During the day, sky was partly cloudy at most of the places while temperature stayed under 38 degrees Celsius here.

Delhiites got much needed respite from the sultry hot weather which was continuing for the past several days.

Relative humidity was 41 per cent in the evening around 1730 hours, said the weatherman.

Air quality also witnessed improvement towards evening and was under the moderate category with an index value of 165 at 1900 hours, according to the Central Pollution Control Board.

For Monday, the Met office has forecast thunderstorm with rain, while maximum and minimum tempertures are likely to hover around 28 and 37 degrees C respectively.

On Saturday the maximum temperature settled at 45.4 degrees Celsius.
