New Delhi, July 29 (IBNS):   Union minister of women and child development, Maneka Gandhi on Sunday said the society should ensure that tigers are conserved and their habitats are not encroached upon.

"This #InternationalTigerDay, with holding credit of being the nation with the largest Tiger population, comes a great responsibility of ensuring that they are conserved and their habitat is not encroached upon." Gandhi tweeted.

Gandhi said the national animal should be preserved.

"Without them we cease to exist, so let’s move one step closer to nature to ensure that our National Animal is preserved," Gandhi said.

Global Tiger Day, often called International Tiger Day, is an annual celebration to raise awareness for tiger conservation, held annually on 29 July.
