Eight core industries expand by 5 percent in March

New Delhi, May 1 (IBNS): Eight core industries increased by 5 per cent in March, official data released by the government said.

"The Eight Core Industries comprise nearly 38 % of the weight of items included in the Index of Industrial Production (IIP).  The combined Index of Eight Core Industries stands at 202.9 in March, 2017, which was 5.0 % higher compared to the index of  March, 2016," read a government statement.

" Its cumulative growth during April to March, 2016-17 was 4.5 %," it said.
