Davos (Switzerland): Essar Renewables Ltd (ERL) has entered into an agreement with the Maharashtra government to invest Rs 8,000 crore in renewable energy projects across the state.

As part of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed during the World Economic Forum 2025 in Davos, Switzerland, ERL, the Essar Group's green energy arm, will develop 2 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy capacity.

The investment will focus on round-the-clock renewable energy initiatives that support the electric vehicle truck charging infrastructure of Blue Energy Motors and Greenline.

These projects aim to bolster Maharashtra’s green energy ecosystem.

The company stated that the investment is expected to create over 2,000 direct jobs.

ERL views this partnership as a step towards achieving its target of exceeding 8 GW of renewable energy capacity within five years.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Industries Minister Uday Samant, and Prashant Ruia.
