HDFC Bank opens 150th branch in Kolkata
Kolkata, Feb 17 (IBNS): HDFC Bank Ltd on Tuesday opened its 150th branch at Kalikapur, a residential area in south Kolkata.
The branch was inaugurated by Satyajit Saha, a Supreme Court lawyer along with Atul Barve, Branch Banking Head, HDFC Bank, in the presence of Kavita Jain, Circle Head, HDFC Bank, Chiradeep Biswas, Cluster Head, HDFC Bank and other senior officials of the bank.
The new branch will cater to the local population in and around the residential neighbourhood as well as the rest of the city, giving them access to the full range of HDFC Bank’s products and services.
This south Kolkata residential hub of Kalikapur has easy connectivity to the Eastern Metropolitan bypass on one side and Gariahat on the other.
Speaking at the launch, Atul Barve, Branch Banking Head, HDFC Bank said: “Our extensive 150-branch network in West Bengal reiterates our commitment to take formal banking services to every part of the state. Our objective is to empower more people in West Bengal by offering our full range of banking services, even in rural areas, thus making a difference in their lives. We are achieving this through our branch network complemented by our ‘Bank aapki Muthti Mein’ offering, which gives customers access to a bank branch the size of their palm that is with them round-the-clock, wherever they are.”
Speaking at the launch, Kavita Jain, Circle Head, HDFC Bank said, “The journey to reach the 150th branch milestone in West Bengal has been extremely fulfilling, right since the launch of our first branch in the state in 1996. We are expanding into deeper geographies with increased intensity, and with 75+ transactions now available on the mobile, we look forward to bringing a whole new world of convenience and flexibility to customers across the state.”
At a national level, HDFC Bank has 56% of its branches in semi-urban and rural areas and is continuously extending its reach in the hinterland in its endeavour to support inclusive growth.
As of December 31, 2014, the Bank had a distribution network with 3,659 branches and 11,633 ATMs in 2,287 cities/towns.
