IDBI Bank to support building of gender segregated toilets
Mumbai, Aug 20 (IBNS): IDBI Bank has decided to be an active participant of the 'Swachh Bharat Mission' to support building of gender segregated toilets in the schools near bank's branches in rural and semi-urban area as part of CSR initiative for an estimated amount of Rs. 9 crore.
Swachh Bharat Mission, announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Aug 15 is a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th Birth Anniversary and aims at tackling sanitation and waste management issues in the country.
The initiative will be undertaken in around 300 schools mainly near bank’s rural branches along with a few branches near our semi- urban areas.
Speaking on the occasion, M.S. Raghavan, Chairman and Managing Director, IDBI Bank, said “Swachh Bharat Mission” launched by the Government of India is an extremely important National Mission towards improving health and sanitation facilities of the people. This will also be an integral part of the efforts for spread of education among our rural populace, particularly encourage girls to take up school education. This, being an important component of economic development, IDBI Bank is proud to be part of this farsighted initiative. True to our DNA, we will continue to partner Government of India in such endeavors”
