Indian Market: Sensex advances 245.86 pts

Continuing the rally for ninth consecutive session on Wednesday, the Sensex spurted 245.86 pts to close high at 67,466.99 following gains in Telecommunications, Consumer Durable, Oil and Gas and Metal stocks.

The Nifty rose 76.80 pts at 20,070.00 pts.

See saw trend was seen during the session, as the Sensex opened negative at 67,188.64, fell 33 pts. It was dropped 168 pts at 67,053.36, days low. Later, it erased earlier losses, and surged 344 pts at 67,565.41, days high, before closing at 67,466.99 from its previous close.

In stocks, Telecommunications was a major gainer, up 2.62 pc followed by Consumer Durable by 1.24 pc, Oil and Gas by 1.13 pc and Metal by 1.04 pc.

In scrips, Bharti Airtel was a star gainer, rising 2.73 pc to Rs 915, Titan by 2.33 pc to Rs 3260, IndusInd Bank by 1.82 pc to Rs 1455, Axis Bank by 1.67 pc to Rs 1016.30 and SBI by 1.45 pc to Rs 596.80.

The losers were M& M by 1.35 pc to Rs 1536.65, L& T by 1.08 pc to Rs 2911.15, Nestle India Ltd Ltd 0.75 pc to Rs 22,150.15 and JSW Steel by 0.61 pc to Rs 811.15.

The Mid Cap rose by 0.19 pc and Small Cap 0.85 pc.

In 30 scrips, 20 advanced while 10 declined.

The Asian Market was seen weak, as Nikkei fell by 0.21 pc, Hang Seng by 0.09 pc and Kospi by 0.07 pc.
