Indian market: Sensex down over 200 pts

Mumbai: The BSE Sensex on Thursday slipped 278.14 pts at 54,614.35 as selling was seen across the board.

The Nifty was slipped 62.90 pts at 16,293.35.

The sensex registered days high and low at 54,682.97 and 54,507.41 pts respectively.

The Nifty registered days high and low at 16,297.45 and 16,243.85 pts respectively.

The Mid cap declined 0.36 pc and Small Cap by 0.08 pc.

In 30 scrips, 3 advanced while 27 declined.

The losers were Asian Paints by 1.82 pc to Rs 2656.40, HCL Technology by 1.28 pc to Rs 1017.20, Nestle India by 1.25 pc to Rs 16,525.75 and TCS by 1.09 pc to Rs 3366.

The gainers were Dr Reddy's Lab by 1.30 pc to Rs 4254.65, Reliance Industries by 0.53 pc to Rs 2738.70, NTPC by 0.38 pc to Rs 157.65 and Tata Steel by 0.16 pc to Rs 1085.
