The equity market remained negative for the third straight session on Friday, as the BSE Sensex tanked 231.62 pts to close at 65,397.62 due to weak trends in global markets and soaring crude oil prices.
Even, Foreign fund outflows also weighed on investor sentiments
The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) slipped 82.05 pts at 19,542.65.
The day opened on a weak note as the Sensex slid by 231.62 pts at 65,437. During the day it was lost 321 pts at 65,308.61, days low before closing at 65,397.62, tumbling down 231.62 pts from its previous close.
In stocks, Oil and Gas was dropped by 1.73 pc followed by Consumer Durable by 1.68 pc, Telecommunication by 1.38 pc and FMCG by 1.33 pc.
In 30 scrips, 10 advanced while 20 declined.
The Mid Cap eased by 1.02 pc and Small Cap by 0.76 pc.
The losers were ITC by 2.84 pc to Rs 437.50, Tata Steel by 2.18 pc to Rs 123.15, Hind Unilever by 1.91 pc to Rs 2499.20 and SBI by 1.44 pc to Rs 563.05.
The gainers were IndusInd Bank by 1.43 pc to Rs 1471, TCS by 1.12 pc to Rs 3493.45, NTPC by 0.81 pc to Rs 241.25, HDFC Bank by 0.59 pc to Rs 1523.90 and Bharti Airtel by 0.49 pc to Rs 947.30.
The Asian Market remained weak, as Nikkei was down by 0.55 pc, Strait Times by 0.74 pc, Hang Seng by 0.72 pc and Kospi by 1.72 pc.
