Indian Market: Sensex ends its all-time high at 66,589.93 pt

Mumbai: The BSE Sensex on Monday ended at an all-time high of 66,589.93 pts, surging 529.03 pts following gains in banking, Financial services, and Health Care stocks.

The Nifty too rallied 146.95 pts to 19,711.45.

The Sensex opened on a strong note at 66,148.18, up 88 points.

During the day, it surged 596 pts to 66,656.21, a day high, before closing at 66,589.93, up 529.03 pts from its previous close.

In stocks, Bankex was a major gainer, rising 1.45 percent, followed by Financial services by 1.11 percent, and Health Services by 0.81 percent.

In scrips, SBI was the top gainer, up 2.96 pc to Rs 601.75, Wipro by 2.73 pc to Rs 416, Reliance Industries by 2.05 pc to Rs 2791, HDFC Bank by 2.05 pc to Rs 1679, and Kotak Bank by 1.60 pc to Rs 1898.60.

The losers were Titan by 1.09 pc to Rs 3022, Bharti Airtel by 0.87 pc to Rs 875.85, Tata Motors by 0.86 pc to Rs 619.40, and TCS by 0.74 pc to Rs 3485.95.

In 30 scrips, 19 advanced while 11 declined.

The midcap increased by 0.29 percent and the small cap by 0.85 percent.

The Asian Market was also seen as strong, with Strait Times up by 0.18 percent, Hang Seng by 0.33 percent, and Taiwan Weight by 0.29 percent.
