Mumbai/UNI: The BSE Sensex remained positive for the tenth consecutive session on Wednesday, as it rallied by 169.23 pts to end strong at 40,794.74 following gains in Bankex, Finance, Realty and Capital Goods stocks.
The nifty of national stock exchange too rose by 36.55 pts at 11,971.05.
Inspite of high volatility, the equity market ended in green only.
The day opened in red, as the Sensex fell by 2 pts to open at 40,623.19. During the day it dropped nearly 346 pts to 40,279.55, days low.
In the last one hour it jumped about 255 points to 40,880.25, days high before closing at 40,794.74, up by 169.23 pts from its previous close.
The sensex registered days high and low at 40,880.25 and 40,279.55 pts respectively.
The Nifty recorded days high and low at 11,997.20 and 11,822.15 pts respectively.
The winning streak remained intact on the strength of Finance, Bankex, Realty and Capital Goods stocks.
In scrips, Bajaj Finserv, Bajaj Finance, ICICI Bank, IndusInd Bank and Tata Steel advanced while NTPC, ONGC, Tech Mahindra and Powergrid were seen weak today.
The Mid Cap was up by 0.50 pc while Small Cap was down by 0.19 pc.
In 30 scrips, 17 advanced while 13 declined.
