Indian Market: Sensex ends weak at 53,140.06 points

Mumbai/UNI: The BSE Sensex on Friday fell marginally by 18.79 points to settle at 53,140.06 on profit booking by local operators.

The Nifty too eased by 0.80 points to 15,923.40.

High fluctuation was witnessed during the day, as the Sensex advanced 86 points to 53,244.40 in the opening session. It surged by 132 points to 53,290.81 the days high.

Later, it erased earlier gains and slipped nearly 161 points to 52,997 the days low, before closing at 53,140.06, easing by 18.79 points from its previous close.

The Sensex registered the days high and low at 53,290.81 and 52,997.09 points respectively.

The Nifty recorded the days high and low at 15,962.25 sand 15,882 points respectively.

The sectoral indices like Technology, Bankex, IT and Finance kept the market low.

In scrips, HCL Technology, Infosys, Bajaj Finserv, ICICI Bank and NTPC declined while buying in Bharti Airtel, Ultracemco, Tata Steel and Reliance Industries capped from further losses.

The Mid Cap rose by 0.45 per cent and Small Cap by 0.38 per cent.

In 30 scrips, 14 advanced while 16 declined.
