Indian Market: Sensex falls 66.23 pts

Mumbai/UNI: The BSE Sensex on Friday declined 66.23 pts at 52,586.84 on profit booking by local operators.

The Nifty too eased by 15.40 pts to 15,763.05.

The Sensex rose 139 pts to open at 52,792.36. It rallied by 257 pts to 52,910.23, days high.

Later, it went in red and tumbled down nearly 120 pts to 52,533.91 days low before closing at 52,586.84, down 66.23 pts from its previous close.

The Sensex registered days high and low at 52,910.23 and 52,533.91 pts respectively.

The Nifty recorded days high and low at 15,862.80 and 15,744.85 pts respectively.

The sectoral indices like Metal, Bankex, Energy and Telecom dragged the market.

In scripts, Bajaj Finance was a top loser, fell by 2.59 pc to Rs 6228.90 followed by Bajaj Finserv, SBI and Tata Steel.

However, buying in Sun Pharma, Tech Mahindra, Powergrid and Bajaj Auto capped from further gains.

The Mid Cap rose by 0.52 pc and Small Cap by 0.69 pc.

In 30 scrips, 13 advanced while 17 declined.

Concerns about the fast-spreading Delta variant and regulatory actions in China dragged the pan-European STOXX 600 index down 0.5 per cent.

While Dow Jones Futures were quoting 100 points, or 0.3 per cent, lower.

Nasdaq Future, meanwhile, tumbled 1.1 per cent and those linked to S&P500 declined 0.6 per cent. Earlier in Asia, Nikkei skidded 2 per cent, and Kospi and Hang Seng erased over 1 per cent each.
