Indian Market: Sensex jumps 562.75 pts

Mumbai: The BSE Sensex on Tuesday rallied 562.75 pts to close strong at 60,655.72 on the strength of Capital Goods, Realty, Utilities and Power stocks.

The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too gained 158.45 pts at 18,053.30.

The Sensex opened higher at 60,142.08, rising 50 pts. During the day, it spurted nearly 612 pts at 60,704.72, the day's high before closing at 60,655.72, surging 562.75 pts from its previous close.

The Nifty recorded the day's high and low at 18,072.05 and 17,886.85 pts respectively.

The indices that moved up were Capital Goods by 1.61 pc followed by Utilising by 1.48 pc, Realty by 1.10 pc and Power by 1.42 pc.

In scrips, L& T, a star gainer was up by 3.51 pc to Rs 2213.15, Hind Unilever by 2.67 pc to Rs 2666.40, HCL Technology by 1.56 pc to Rs 1111, HDFC by 1.53 pc to Rs 1608 and HDFC by 1.49 pc to Rs 2633.

The losers were SBI by 1.67 pc to Rs 592.95, Bajaj Finserv by 0.81 pc to Rs 1373.05, IndusInd Bank by 0.74 pc to Rs 1230 and Wipro by 0.63 pc to Rs 396.15.

The Mid Cap fell by 0.06 pc and Small Cap by 0.13 pc.

In 30 scrips, 22 advanced while 8 declined.
