Mumbai: The BSE Sensex on Friday fell 111.01 pts to settle at 52,907.93 as selling was seen in Oil and Gas, Power, Utilities and Energy stocks.
The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too eased 28.20 pts at 15,752.05.
The Sensex opened lower 155 pts at 52,863.34. During the day it dropped 924 pts at 52,094.25, days low. In late trade it recovered but ended in red only at 52,907.93, down 111.01 pts from its previous close.
The Sensex registered days high and low at 53,053.04 and 52,094.25 pts respectively.
The Nifty recorded days high and low at 15,793.95 and 15,511.05 respectively.
The sectoral indices like Oil and Gas, Power, Utilities and Energy dragged the market today.
In scrips, Reliance Industries was a major loser, slid 7.25 pc to Rs 2406 followed by Powergrid by 2.76 pc to Rs 206, NTPC by 1.54 pc to Rs 140.95, Bharti Airtel by 1.41 pc to Rs 674.25 and Maruti Suzuki by 0.66 pc to Rs 8414.45.
The gainers were ITC by 4.06 pc to Rs 284.55, Bajaj finance by 3.84 pc to Rs 5607.95, Bajaj Finserv by 3.44 pc to Rs 11,305.50 and Hind Unilever by 2.66 pc to Rs 2289.95.
The Mid Cap rose by 0.67 pc and Small Cap by 0.09 pc.
In 30 scrips, 22 advanced while 8 declined.
A negative trend was seen in Asian Market as Australia was down by 0.39 pc followed by China by 0.32 pc, Hong Kong by 0.62 pc and Japan by 1.73 pc.
