Indian Market: Sensex recovers 377 pts

Mumbai/UNI: The benchmark Index of Bombay Stock Exchange on Friday smartly recovered by 377 pts to 34,357.39, in opening trade on buying in Energy, Industrials, Metal and Bankex stocks.

The Nifty of National Stock Exchange too rose by 118 pts to 10,147.50.

The Sensex registered intraday high and low at 34,357.30 and 34,154.49 pts respectively.

The Nifty registered intraday high and low at 10,147.50 and 10,085 pts respectively.

The Midcap was up by 0.98 pc and small-cap by 1.67 pc.

Of 30 scrips, 22 advanced while 8 declined.

Shares of Reliance Industries (RIL) hit a new high of Rs 1,618, up 2.4 per cent on the BSE today on after the company said that Abu Dhabi state fund Mubadala Investment Co will buy a 1.85 per cent stake in its digital unit, Jio Platforms, for Rs 9,093.6 crore. The stock surpassed its previous high of Rs 1,603 touched on December 20, 2019.

As many as 12 companies include SBI, Bank of India and Larsen & Toubro are scheduled to announce their March quarter results today.

The gainers were Tata Steel by 4.44 pc to Rs 334.35, SBI by 3.19 pc to Rs 179.60, L& T by 2.79 pc to Rs 957, ONGC by 2.36 pc to Rs 86.90 and Sun Pharma by 2.08 pc to Rs 505.30.

The losers were TCS by 2.34 pc to Rs 2045, Bajaj Auto by 1.36 pc to Rs 2790.85, Hind Unilever by 1.15 pc to Rs 2095.90 and HCL Technology by 0.43 pc to Rs 576.40.
