Indian Market: Sensex up 508.06 pts

Mumbai/UNI: The BSE Sensex on Monday advanced 508.06 pts to close at 48,386.51 tracking global peers.

The Nifty too rose by 143.65 pts to 14,485.00.

Sliding by over 200 pts on Friday, the Sensex opened on a strong note at 48,197.37, up by 319 pts and it remained in green throughout the session.

It edged up nearly 789 pts to 48,667.98 days high before closing at 48,386.51, up by 508.06 pts from its previous close.

The sensex registered days high and low at 48,667.97 and 48,152.24 pts respectively.

The Nifty recorded days high and low at 14,557.50 and 14,421.30 pts respectively.

The sectoral indices like, Realty, Metal, Materials, Bankex and Finance stocks pushed the equity market up today. In scrips, Axis Bank, Ultracemco, ICICI Bank, Hind Unilever and SBI boosted the same.

However, selling in HCL Technology, Sun Pharma, HDFC Bank, Maruti Suzuki and TCS restricted from further gains, broker said.

The Mid Cap rose by 0.60 pc and Small by 0.88 pc.

In 30 scrips, 23 advanced while 7 declined.
