Indian Market: Sensex up over 200 pts

Mumbai/UNI: The BSE Sensex on Tuesday gained further by 209 pts at 48,596.22 in opening trade as buying was seen across the board.

The Nifty too rose by 78 pts to 14,563.15.

The Sensex registered intra days high and low at 48,717.71 and 48,399.53 pts respectively.

The Nifty registered intra days high and low at 14,583.75 and 14,484.85 respectively.

The Mid Cap rose by 0.60 pc and Small Cap by 0.85 pc.

In 30 scrips 19 advanced while 11 declined.

The gainers were Reliance Industries by 1.74 pc to Rs 1971.25, Powergrid by 1.67 pc to Rs 218.90, L& T by 1.58 pc to Rs 1357, HDFC Bank by 1.28 pc to Rs 1422.85 and Bharti Airtel by 1.17 pc to Rs 533.70.

The losers were Axis Bank by 2.01 pc to Rs 686.35, Kotak Bank by 1.27 pc to Rs 1737.25, Tech Mahindra by 0.98 pc to Rs 953.70 and HDFC by 0.36 pc to Rs 2500.05.
