Bengaluru/IBNS: IT major Infosys flew back some of its employees and their family members in a special chartered flight, who were stranded in the United States due to the coronavirus pandemic and visa issues.

Some 200 people-employees and their families-were flown to Bengaluru from the US in a special flight.

The employees, who reached Bengaluru on Monday morning, will be working from the hi-tech city or other locations in India.

Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani, retweeting a post, wrote on Twitter: "Infosys: compassionate capitalism at work!"

The Indian government has extended the ban on international flights till July 31 as a part of its "Unlock 2" plan and to curb the virus spread.

However, Air India and other private domestic airlines have been operating international repatriation flights under the Vande Bharat Mission, which commenced on May 6.

Domestic flight services in the country resumed on May 25.
