New Delhi/IBNS: Union minister Nitin Gadkari has said Indian manufacturers can take advantage of the current anti-Chinese sentiments by manufacturing items for which India is largely dependent on Chinese imports, media reports said.

Road and Highways, MSME minister Nitin Gadkari on Saturday pointed out the "great hatred" against China and that many countries do not want to import anything from there anymore due to Covid-19 scare.

“There is a great hatred against China. No one wants to deal with China and many countries also don’t want any goods from there. You all must be aware of the Japanese PM announcing a package for their industries which want to shift base from China to other countries. There are similar indications from the US government,” Gadkari said in a web-based interaction on Saturday with

CEO Club of India, reported Times Now.

He said many countries want to move out of China and diversify their base and Indian entrepreneurs should utilise this situation.

This situation is a blessing in disguise for India, Gadkari said in another interview with CNN-News18. "This is the time for India to get into joint ventures with foreign companies," he opined.

Meanwhile, the Japanese government has announced financial package for its companies to shift their manufacturing plants from of China. American company Apple is also planning to shift its manufacturing units from China and so are several other companies, said reports.

"I am confident that we will get a response from western countries, particularly from the United States, the United Kingdom, Italy and France," he said. "India will be a good destination for foreign investment due to the availability of skilled labour and the low cost of land," he added.

Reports said the Prime Minister’s Office, Niti Aayog and the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade are working out a plan to offer incentives to companies planning to shut down business in China in order to encourage them to set up plants and offices in India.
