Protinex, Farex, Dexolac under Tata? Massive deal in final stages

Mumbai/IBNS: Tata Consumer Products Ltd (TCPL) is reportedly in advanced negotiations to acquire Danone SA’s nutraceuticals and specialised nutrition portfolio in India, according to a report by Business Today.

The discussions, ongoing for several months, have gained momentum in recent weeks, with both sides said to be close to finalising the valuation terms of the deal.

TCPL — the company behind brands such as Tata Tea, Tata Salt, and Soulfull — has been actively looking to strengthen its presence in India’s rapidly expanding wellness and nutrition segment.

An acquisition of Danone’s nutrition business would position the company to compete directly with multinational giants like Nestlé and Abbott in the premium nutrition space.

Danone’s India portfolio, which includes popular brands such as Farex, Dexolac, and Protinex, is driven largely by its strong foothold in the nutrition category.
