PRSI declares its Leadership Award for 2020, Kolkata Chapter chairman among the winners

Kolkata/IBNS: Public Relations Society of India, the national association of PR practitioners (founded in 1958), confers the PRSI Leadership Award, to the stalwarts of the profession.

The Kolkata chapter of PRSI rejoiced when their Chairman Soumyajit Mahapatra won the 2020 Award for his three decade long contribution to the sector.

Sandeep Marwah, President of Asian Academy of Film & Television, and Rajeev Goyel, Executive Director, Corporate Communications, HPCL, among others, were also conferred the Leadership Award.

The event was attended by the Governor of Uttarakhand, Baby Rani Maurya , Union Education Minister, Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, President of International Public Relations Association, Philippe Borremans , President of Public Relations Society Of India, Dr. Ajit Pathak.

The award was conferred virtually.

The Kolkata chapter in a release said Soumyajit Mahapatra mastered the art of communication though he did not have any formal education in PR & Advertising.

He specialises in image and brand makeover, IT and Social Media Marketing, and has been a motivational speaker, television show host and panel moderator.

His contribution in shaping the young students through “Beyond The Classroom'' has been appreciated by the academic and industry circles, the release said.

Mahapatra has also received other awards over the years, including Best Secretary awards thrice and Best Chairman awards twice from Public Relations Society of India between 2009 and 2016.

Said Mahapatra, “I am fortunate to receive this prestigious award and feel honoured. I would continue to serve the PR fraternity in the coming days with more dedication.”
