Sensex falls 89 points, Nifty down by 27.40 pts

Mumbai/UNI: The BSE Sensex on Wednesday declined 89 points at 61,783.83 in opening trade as selling pressure was seen in FMCG, Financial, Energy and Consumer Discretionary Goods and Services stocks.

The Nifty too slipped 27.40 points at 18,376.

The Sensex registered intra day high and low at 61,911.91 and 61,708.63 points respectively.

The Nifty recorded intra day high and low at 18,417.65 and 18,354.70 points respectively.

The Mid Cap fell by 0.06 percent while Small Cap rose by 0.21 percent.

In 30 scrips, 13 advanced, while 17 declined.

The losers were Tata Steel by 1.61 percent to Rs 106.75; Bajaj Finance by 1.42 percent to Rs 6,923; Bajaj Finserv by 1.09 per cent to Rs 1,686.80 and Asian Paints by 0.90 percent to Rs 3,054.

The gainers were Dr Reddy's Lab by 1.59 per cent to Rs 4,507.35, TCS by 0.85 percent to Rs 3,361, Wipro by 0.77 per cent to Rs 400.20 and Maruti Suzuki by 0.60 percent to Rs 9,214.20.
