Sensex recovers over 500 points

Mumbai/UNI: The BSE Sensex on Thursday smartly recovered by 537 points to open at 74413.82 on the strength of industrials, IT, telecommunications, and utilities stocks.

The Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) rose 158 points to 22,592.10.

The Sensex registered intraday highs and lows at 74501.75 and 73,730.45 points respectively.

The Nifty registered intraday highs and lows at 22,619 and 22,372.55 points respectively.

The Mid Cap rose 0.30 pc and Small Cap by 0.49 pc.

In 30 scrips, 12 advanced while 18 declined.

The gainers were NTPC by 2.73 pc to Rs 361.20, HDFC bank by 1.93 pc to Rs 1512.20, Powergrid by 1.16 pc to Rs 283.55 and TCS by 0.52 pc to Rs 3967.85.

The losers were IndusInd bank by 1.33 pc to Rs 1522.45, Sun Pharma by 1.23 pc to Rs 1602.50 and Nestle India Ltd by 0.79 pc to Rs 1215.25.
