Tata Steel starts export of Tata Ferroshots from its Kalinganagar Steel Plant
Rajiv Kumar, Vice President (Operation) of Tata Steel Kalinganagar Plant flagged off the first export consignment to a South East Asian Country on Aug 23.
Tata Ferroshots, granulated pig iron, is a new product that was launched by Tata Steel, from its Kalinganagar plant in March this year.
Within a few months of its launch, this innovative product has garnered a lot of interest from the steel industry, which has traditionally used Pig Iron, Sponge iron and Scrap. After its encouraging acceptance in the domestic market, the product is set to make its foray into the International arena.
Tata Ferroshots is granulated pig iron solidified by cooling in water.
The end use of Tata Ferroshots includes electric arc furnaces, induction furnaces, cupolas, basic oxygen furnaces and foundries as a replacement of pig iron, scrap or DRI. Its inherent properties lead to better yield, higher productivity and lower energy cost. Besides, the process of manufacturing is safe and environment friendly.
Tata Steel is setting up a 6 million tonne per annum (MnTPA) integrated steel plant at Kalinganagar in two phases. The first phase of 3 MnTPA state-of-the-art steel plant is being implemented at an investment of Rs 25000 crore.
The plant was dedicated to Odisha by Odisha Chief Minister, Shri Naveen Patnaik on Nov 18, 2015 and Commercial production from the plant started in May 2016.
