TP-Link India to build largest global factory in India, likely to invest Rs 100 crore
TP-Link India, a global provider of networking hardware and accessories, plans to establish its largest factory in India to expand local manufacturing, according to company officials.
Bijoy Alaylo, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of TP-Link India, told The Economic Times that the move is part of the company’s five-year plan.
The company is in talks with three state governments to finalise a site for the project, which could involve an investment of over Rs 100 crore.
“We will be starting manufacturing—that’s the plan for the next five years,” Alaylo said. “Once that starts up, it would be the biggest factory for TP-Link globally.”
Currently, TP-Link has manufacturing facilities in Brazil and Vietnam. The proposed Indian plant would be its third global factory.
Alaylo added that while the investment is likely to be around Rs 100 crore, the final amount has not yet been decided.
"The major manufacturing would happen in India and we would export to those countries as well,” Alaylo said.
“The land finalisation (for the plant) and the other things are still in process. We are in discussion with three different (state) governments for that. And this plan is for the next five years so we would get all the permissions and set up the factory and get all the machinery over," he said.
At present, about 92% of TP-Link products sold in India are manufactured locally. The company aims to increase this to 96–97% within the next three years. Once the factory is operational, it will be wholly owned by TP-Link and all products will be manufactured in India.
