Volvo opens new showroom in Kolkata
This is the first showroom of the Swedish luxury car maker in the eastern part of the country.
Tom von Bonsdorff, Managing Director, Volvo Auto India said: “We have been growing our presence in India since 2007. We want to be a brand in the fore front of Indian market. Everything we do starts with people. We are a human-centric brand and safety is what we think about while designing our cars. We would focus in increasing our operations in more cities in India.”
On asking about the response of Volvo cars in Indian market, Bonsdorff said: “We have sold 1200 cars last year and till now we are slightly ahead of last year. We have a big job to make our cars known to Indian customers, we need to concentrate more on our marketing practices.”
The showroom will be based on Volvo’s traditional Scandinavian design. It will be owned and operated by Scandinavian OSL, a part of OSL groups
Speaking on the occasion Chandan Mishra, Dealer Principal, OSL Scandinavian said: “We are extremely delighted to partner with Volvo India. Finally safety is here in the eastern part of India.”
The Swedish luxury automobile manufacturer presently has 14 showrooms across the country and expects to increase it to 20 by the end of this year.
Volvo cars currently markets products through dealerships in South Delhi, West Delhi, Gurgaon, Ahmedabad, Surat, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Coimbatore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Kochi, Vishakhapatnam, Pune.
The new showroom is all will sell the entire range of Volvo cars for display, which includes the S60, V40 Cross Country, S80, XC60 and the all new XC90 7-seater SUV, which is expected to hit Indian roads by September.
