34 dengue deaths reported so far in Bengal, 18,238 persons infected : Govt
"Thirty-four dengue deaths have been reported so far while 18,238 others have been infected with dengue fever in West Bengal," Malay De said during a press conference here at state secretariat Nabanna in Kolkata.
"Infections due to DEN-2 (dengue strain type 2) and DEN-4 (dengue strain type 4) have increased this year while no DEN-5 (dengue strain type 5) case has been reported so far," Chief Secretary added.
Malay De said that the state government is monitoring the situation very closely.
"All civic bodies have been instructed to carry out anti-dengue drive and we are monitoring the entire situation," he said.
"There is no question of hiding dengue data and we are sharing every single updates with the media," Malay De added.
Chief Secretary Malay De requested people not to trigger panic as dengue situation in the state is still under control.
