36 more test Covide+ in Meghalaya, active cases 765

Shillong/IBNS: Thirty-six more people, mostly civilians and nine Border Security Force (BSF) troopers, tested positive for COVID-19 as on Tuesday morning in Meghalaya, taking the total number of active cases in the State to 765.

Director of Health Services (MI), Dr Aman War said that out of the 36 new cases, 24 , including 11 BSF troopers, seven Armed Forces personnel and six civilians, are from East Khasi Hills district.

Seven more persons, including five civilians and two BSF troopers, from West Garo Hill district, he further informed.

Three more civilians, besides one civilian each in East Jaiñtia Hills and South West Garo Hills, have also tested positive for the viral infection, Dr War added.

“Four more persons, including three BSF troopers and one civilian, have recovered from the viral infection as on Monday, taking the total number of recoveries up to 683 as on date,” the senior medical official said.

Out of the 765 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills district alone accounts for 443 cases, which include 286 civilians, 80 BSF troopers and 70 personnel from Assam Rifles and Army.

In other districts, West Garo Hills district has 191 cases, while Ri-Bhoi district recorded 103 cases as on date.

North Garo Hills has eight cases, six cases in East Jaiñtia Hills, four cases each in South West Garo Hills and West Jaiñtia Hills, three cases in West Khasi Hills and two cases in South Garo Hills.

South West Khasi Hills recorded the least number of cases with one single active case.
