After detection of 30 COVID-19 positive cases three floors of SBI’s Northeast Head Office, regional business office sealed
Guwahati/IBNS: After detection of COVID-19 positive cases, three floors of the State Bank of India (SBI)’s Northeast head office in Guwahati were declared as containment zone.
Kamrup (Metro) district administration on Monday issued an order and declared three floors of the local head office of the country’s largest public sector bank as containment zone.
Along with three floors of the eight floors SBI’s local head office the Kamrup (Metro) district administration had also sealed the bank’s regional business office at Swagata Squre Complex located at ABC point in Guwahati city.
Biswajit Pegu, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Kamrup (Metro) district issued the order and stated that – “In view of the detection of COVID- 19 positive patients at SBI Local Head Office opposite Assam Secretariat, Guwahati-6 of Kamrup Metropolitan District, in the interest of maintenance of public hygiene and to prevent further spread of COVID-19 virus in the said area, Floor-1 (Wing-A), 5 (Wing-A), 8 (Wing-A) of the said building establishment is declared as CONTAINMENT ZONE and the Circle Officer. Dispur Revenue Circle is directed to seal the area immediately.”
According to the reports, at least 86 employees of SBI across its branches and complexes in Guwahati have tested for positive for COVID-19.
A top official of SBI said that, 22 employees of SBI local head office and eight at regional business office have tested positive for the novel Coronavirus.
In the order, the Kamrup (Metro) district administration stated that – “Any unauthorized entry and exit into the notified CONTAINMENT ZONE are barred till the area is declared safe as per guidelines of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, GOI. Any movement of any unauthorized individual and vehicle within the notified area is also prohibited with immediate effect. All statutory and other direction regarding maintenance of social Distancing will be strictly enforced in the sealed area.”
Assam has so far reported 12522 positive cases for COVID-19.
On Monday, the state had reported 786 COVID-19 positive cases including 598 cases from Guwahati city alone.
