Assam reports fresh COVID-19 positive case, state tally surges to 31

Guwahati/IBNS: Assam has reported one more COVID-19 positive case on Monday taking the state tally increased to 31.

The fresh positive case for COVID-19 has been reported from Goalpara district.

Confirming the report, Assam Health minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said the new case is a secondary contact of Nizamuddin Markaz case.

Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted: “A person from Goalpara, and secondary contact of people associated with #NizamuddinMarkaz, has been confirmed as #COVID19 positive. The total number of #Covid patients in #Assam now stands at 31.”

Assam has reported two positive cases for COVID-19 in last 24 hours.

On Monday morning, one COVID-19 positive case was reported from Dhubri district.

Assam has reported 31 positive cases for COVID-19 so far including nine cases from Golaghat district, four each from Nalbari and Morigaon, Goalpara districts, three each from Dhubri district and one each from South Salmara, Kamrup (Metro), Kamrup, Karimganj, Lakhimpur, Cachar and Hailakandi district.

A patient from Hailakandi district was died on April 10.
