Bangladesh records 978 new COVID-19 cases in past 24 hours

Dhaka: Bangladesh recorded 978 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, media reports said.

The tally of infected people in the country now stands at 518,898.

The south Asian country also reported 17 deaths due to the highly infectious disease in the same period of 24 hours.

The total death toll due to the virus now stands at 7,687.

The number of fresh recoveries outpaced active cases in the same period as another 1,021 patients recovered from the illness through treatment at home and in hospital care, bringing the total to 463,480, reports bdnews24.
