Buffalo dies due to Anthrax in at Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary in Assam

Guwahati/UNI: A buffalo death due to Anthrax has been reported at Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary in Assam.

The death, which occurred last week, due to Anthrax has been confirmed by the Forest department today.

The carcass has already been disposed as per guidelines.

Advisory for preventive measures to ensure that the disease doesn't spread further.

The District Veterinary Officer, Morigaon, has been instructed to vaccinate the domestic elephants, which has already been complied with.

The DVO has also been requested to perform vaccination in the fringe villages.

Entry of domestic animals into the reserve will also be restricted, wherever possible.

Meanwhile, with the Sanctuary set to open for tourists, it has been decided that the visitors will be allowed into the forest.

However, the area where carcasses were found will be in restricted category.
