Coronavirus claims more than 9,000 lives in Germany

Berlin/UNI: The death toll of the country due the novel coronavirus surged to 9003 on Friday, the Robert Koch Institute said.

The Institute further said that the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country also rose to 195,674 with 446 new cases reported in the last 24 hours.

They further said that around 181,000 people have recovered since the outbreak.

A day earlier, the country confirmed 503 new cases and nine fatalities.

The World Health Organisation declared the COVID-19 outbreak a pandemic on March 11.

So far more than 10.8 million people have been infected with the coronavirus worldwide, with over 520,000 fatalities, Johns Hopkins University said.
