New Delhi/UNI: The national capital recorded 4,116 new cases of the "millennium scourge" novel coronavirus during the past 24 hours, while 36 people succumbed in the same period, the Health bulletin said on Saturday.

The new additions took Delhi's caseload to 3,52,520, while the death toll soared to 6,225.

According to the bulletin, 55,461 COVID-19 tests were conducted in the past one day. The recovery rate marginally reduced to 90.72 per cent while the positivity rate increased to 7.42 per cent.

Currently, there are 15,808 COVID patients under home isolation across the city, who are mostly asymptomatic or the ones with very mild symptoms. The number of active cases, which includes patients under home isolation, are 26,467.

The Health Department claimed that 10,414 beds are still vacant while the containment zones in the city have now risen to 2,840.

A total of 15,229 RT-PCR/CBNAAT/TrueNat tests and 40,232 rapid antigen tests were conducted today.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that the coronavirus vaccine should be made available to all the people in the country for free. Apparently his comments came countering the BJP's free COVID-19 vaccination promise in its manifesto for Bihar.
