Covid19: Andhra Pradesh sets record by vaccinating over 1.3 million people in a single day

Hyderabad/IBNS: Andhra Pradesh has set a new record by administering more than 13 lakh doses of Covid-19 vaccines till 8 p.m. Sunday.

The government launched a special drive that ended at 6 am Sunday, in which 13,45,004 vaccine doses were given to people across the state.

While meeting the target of covering the maximum number of people, the state also crossed the 1 crore mark in giving the first dose of the vaccine.

The number reached 11.85 lakh at 5 p.m., tweeted Aarogya Andhra, the official Covid response account of the Andhra Pradesh government.

The special vaccination drive was undertaken after Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy ordered the State Health Department.

The state had earlier created a record by administering more than 6 lakh vaccines in a day.

Officials said the credit of covering such a large number of people under the vaccination drive goes to the network of volunteers and health workers, who pushed the campaign with the understanding that vaccination is the only way to stop Covid-19, according to NDTV.

The vaccination drive focussed on people below 45 years and mothers with children under 5 years. It started at 6 a.m. in more than 2000 locations in all 13 districts of the state, the report informed.

Godavari East and West districts topped the list with 1.1 1 lakh and 1.08 lakh vaccinations today.
