Cyclone Dana: Landfall process completes; 'zero casualty' in Odisha, flight operations resume in Bhubaneswar and Kolkata

The landfall process began at around 12:10 am. The storm made landfall at 110 km/hr.

The MeT department said the landfall process will complete on Friday morning and the cyclone will gradually weaken.

The districts of Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Balasore and Mayurbhanj in Odisha will experience heavy to very rainfall over the next one day.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi said no casualty has been reported from the state.

He wrote on X, " I reviewed the post-storm situation at the Special Relief Commissioner's office. After making landfall, the impact of the storm is gradually diminishing. A detailed discussion has been conducted to assess and normalize the situation. The government is monitoring the post-storm situation.

"With the assessment of the damage caused by the storm, orders have been given to speed up the provision of relief, rescue, communication, and necessary assistance in the current situation. The people's government is seriously working with the people's safety as our first duty is Zero Casualty."

The restoration and relief operations are in full swing. NRDF teams are in action to clear uprooted trees in the villages located in Dhamra.

Roads are blocked in the coastal villages of Dhamra.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee stayed at her office Nabanna the entire night and monitored the situation.

Several parts of the state have been experiencing heavy rains since late Thursday night. Waterlogging has been reported in several parts of South 24 Parganas.

Flight operations have resumed in both Bhubaneswar and Kolkata, the capital cities of Odisha and West Bengal respectively.
