Delhi: Heavy rains lash national capital
New Delhi: Heavy rains lashed New Delhi on Saturday as water-logging and traffic snarls in various regions of the national capital left normal life in the city hit.
The rainfall which continued throughout the intervening night of Friday and Saturday submerged the roads and created water logging in all the low lying areas.
Delhi's Safdarjung reported 73.2 mm rain during 2.30 am to 5.30 am today while Palam recorded 11 mm of rainfall in the same period.
According to Delhi traffic police, the traffic was disrupted at Azad Market Underpass, Minto Bridge (both carriageway), Moolchand Underpass, Pul Prahladpur Underpass due to water logging among several other areas.
As per India Meteorological Department's (IMD) forecast, thunderstorms with moderate to heavy intensity rain would continue to occur over many places of the entire Delhi-NCR, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Indirapuram and adjoining areas during the next two hours.
For today, the weather agency has predicted generally cloudy sky with moderate to heavy rain at the isolated places of the city that will be accompanied with gusty winds.
The minimum and maximum temperature is expected to hover between 25 degree Celsius to 31 degree Celsius, respectively.
