Delhi registers 648 fresh COVID-19 cases, 86 deaths

On March 18, 607 people were found coronavirus positive.

With the new cases and fatalities, the national capital's case tally surged to 14,26,240 while the death toll increased to 24,237,

Positivity rate has come down to 0.99 per cent while the fatality rate stands at 1.7 per cent, the bulletin said.

There are 11,040 active cases in the national capital.

As many as 4,784 people are undergoing treatment at hospitals and Covid care centres, and 5,374 are in home isolation, it added.

The fresh cases came from a total of 65,240 tests, comprising 50,003 RT PCR/CBNAAT/True Nat and 15,237 rapid antigen tests, conducted in the last 24 hours.

As per the official data, 20,068 COVID beds are available in hospitals, 6,130 in dedicated COVID Care Centre, and 558 in dedicated COVID Health Care Centres. At the peak of the second wave in April, only 5-6 per cent of beds were vacant on many days.

The health bulletin said 9,758 beneficiaries were vaccinated in the past day, which included 9,339 first dose recipients and 419 who were administered with a second dose.

As per the data of the last seven days, Delhi recorded 946 COVID-19 cases and 78 deaths on Sunday; 956 cases and 122 deaths on Saturday; 14,141 cases and 139 deaths on Friday; 1,072 cases and 117 deaths on Thursday; 1,491 cases and 130 deaths on Wednesday and 1,568 cases and 156 deaths on Tuesday.

The national capital has recorded its highest single-day spike of 28,395 COVID-19 cases on April 20.

The COVID-19-induced lockdown, enforced from April 19, was relaxed on Monday for construction work and operation of factories.
