Earthquake measuring 5.0 on Richter Scale hits Mizoram, tremors felt in other NE states

Aizawl/IBNS: An earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter Scale hit the Champhai region in Mizoram on Thursday evening.

The earthquake had its epicentre at 98 km south-east (SE) of Champhai in Mizoram, according to the National Center for Seismology.

It stuck the North Eastern state at around 7:29 pm with tremors being felt in parts of Assam, Meghalaya and Nagaland.

"Earthquake of Magnitude:5.0, occurred on 18-06-2020 at 19:29:25 hrs IST, Lat: 22.82 & Long: 94.00, Depth: 80 Km, Location: 98km SE of Champhai, Mizoram, India," National Centre for Seismology said in a statement.
