Ahmedabad: A road in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad caved in on Sunday following heavy rain, which disrupted traffic and flooded low-lying areas, media reported.

A video shared by news agency ANI shows a road in the city's Shela area that caved in due to the heavy rains, forming a large pothole in the middle of the road.

The video shows water flowing into the large cavity created by the collapse.

Heavy rainfall also caused waterlogging in Ahmedabad and Surat, with Palsana taluka in Surat district recording 153 mm of rainfall, the highest in the state, within just ten hours, according to PTI.

In another incident in Ahmedabad's KK Nagar, a tree uprooted by the rain fell on a car, causing damage, reported ANI.

Normal life in Ahmedabad was disrupted as residents struggled to navigate knee-deep water on main roads.

Between 6 am and 4 pm, Ahmedabad received 62 mm of rainfall, media reported.

Rainwater was pumped out of the underpass near Pathik Ashram using a water bowser, with visuals showing the underpass flooded with rainwater.
