India records 1,96,427 new COVID-19 cases, 3511 deaths

New Delhi:  India, a nation witnessing a deadly second wave of the pandemic, witnessed a decline in the daily count as the country recorded 1,96,427 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, as per the Ministry of Health released data on Tuesday.

During the same period, 3,511 deaths were recorded, taking the death toll due to the deadly disease to 307231.

India recorded the 3 lakh deaths mark due to the virus on Monday.

India has so far recorded 2,69,48,874 COVID-19 cases.

There are 25,86,782 active cases in the country at present.

In the last 24 hours, 326850 people recovered from the disease which is believed to have originated from China.

In the past few weeks, India witnessed a deadly second wave of the pandemic with people struggling to get a hospital bed, oxygen and even the crematoriums were overwhelmed with the increase in deaths registered during this phase.
