India registers 39,070 fresh COVID cases in last 24 hours

New Delhi/IBNS: India reported 39,070 new Covid cases in the past 24 hours, pushing the total infections tally to over 3.19 crore.

During the same period, 491 deaths were reported, taking the total fatalities to over 4.27 lakhs so far.

According to the Union Health Ministry, the daily positivity rate is currently at 2.2 percent, which has dropped to less than 5 per cent.

The active Covid cases have declined to 4.06 lakh in India and constitute 1.27 per cent of total infections.

About 43,910 patients recovered in the last 24 hours taking total recoveries so far to over 3.10 crore.

Meanwhile, over 55 lakh vaccine doses were administered in the last 24 hours.

With this, the total doses administered in the country has exceeded 50.68 crore so far, the health ministry said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the country's fight against the pandemic has received a "strong impetus" after crossing the 50 crore-milestone.
