Karnataka: Covid-19 cases swells to 1959

Bengaluru/UNI: Twenty fresh cases of Covid-19 surfaced in Karnataka, pushing the state's tally to 1959 on Saturday.

Earlier in the day, a total of 196 cases were reported in several districts including 72 from Yadagiri and 40 from Raichur districts.

The death toll in the state also rose to 42 when a 32-year-old man from Bengaluru urban district, succumbed to the virus related complications today.

One more man, who tested positive, committed suicide in Dakshina Kannada district, the sources said.

The fresh cases were also reported from Mandya, Hassan, Chikkamagaluru, Gadag, Bengaluru Urban, Uttara Kannada, Dharwad, Davanagere, Belagavi, Kolar, Bidar, Udupi and Hassan districts.

In Karnataka, ever since the onset of Covid-19 as many as 196,196 people had been tested so far to prevent the spread of the pandemic.

In the last 24 hours, 11 people recovered and discharged from the hospital, taking the number of recoveries to 608, the sources said.
