Kerala records 3,404 fresh COVID cases, 36 deaths

Thiruvananthapuram/UNI: Kerala reported 3,404 fresh COVID-19 cases and 36 deaths on Thursday showing no respite from rising number of COVID cases in the state.

About 4,145 people have recovered from the disease today, a press release from the health department said this evening.

"Meanwhile, 36 recent deaths were confirmed due to COVID today. About 284 deaths were also added to the list based on appeals seeking its inclusion in the list taking the death toll in the state to 43,946," the release added.

About 56,580 samples were tested during the last 24 hours.

Currently 1,47,204 people are under observation in the state of which 1,43,110 are at their homes or institutional quarantine Centres and 4,094 in hospitals.

Today, 206 people infected with the virus were admitted to hospitals in the state. Weekly Infection Population Ratio (WIPR) is above 10 at six wards where strict restriction is being imposed.
