New Delhi, Oct 1 (IBNS): With an aim to spread awareness around hygiene and sanitation, RB India on Wednesday launched the first initiative as a part of the 5 year ambitious program "Dettol – Banega Swachh India".

Former IPS Officer, Kiran Bedi graced the occasion by flagging off the “Dettol – Swachh Express” from Ghosiya Colony in New Delhi.

During the first phase of the campaign spread over the next two months, the bus will cover around 400 villages across 8 states of Haryana, Rajasthan, UP, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, MP and Maharashtra.

In next 5 years, the bus aims at reaching out to 2000 villages across India.

The objective of “Dettol – Swachh Express” bus is to create awareness around hygiene and sanitation through interactive videos, flyer distributions, posters, hand-washing sessions and Nukkad Nataks (street plays) across the villages it covers.

Emphasizing on the lack of hygienic conditions in India, Nitish Kapoor, Managing Director, RB India, said, “As a global leader in consumer health and hygiene, our purpose is to improve the hygiene and sanitation in the daily lives of our consumers. We have been committed towards this cause and now with a national focus on hygiene and sanitation, we have the opportunity to multiply our efforts and support the efforts by the government. We are extremely proud today to take our first step towards our 5 year program by flagging off the “Dettol – Swachh Express”.
