Kolkata: Army Brigadier posted at Fort William dies of COVID-19
Kolkata/IBNS: A Brigadier-rank officer of the Indian Army, who was posted at the EME Eastern Command in Kolkata's Fort William, succumbed to Covid-19 on Thursday, Indian Army officials said.
According to reports, Brigadier Vikas Samyal, who had tested positive for Covid-19 and was undergoing treatment at Command Hospital at Alipore, died in the morning.
Wife and two daughters of the Army officer had also contracted novel coronavirus, and all of them were reportedly cured.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed her deep condolence on the death of the Brigadier.
"Hon'ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and GOWB express deep condolences on untimely passing away of Brigadier Vikas Samyal, an Indian Army Brigadier posted at the Eastern Command in Kolkata who succumbed to Covid-19 today at the Command Hospital, Kolkata," Bengal Home Department tweeted.
